Aviotec - Air Traffic Control Tower Siting Study at Oshawa Airport for Nav Canada

Aviotec International Inc., in association with Studio Intersekt and ProCo Management, have been retained by Nav Canada to assist with the development of a new Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) at the Oshawa Executive Airport. The new ATCT will replace the existing tower which is located on the south side of the airfield. The new ATCT will be similar in configuration and scope to the Nav Canada tower current being constructed at Waterloo International Airport.

The Airport, located 60 km east of Toronto, is owned and operated by the City of Oshawa and handled a total of 51,758 aircraft movements in 2014. Aircraft movements are expected to rise to 102,300 movements by 2019 in response to the expected closure of Buttonville Airport, and the capacity constraints at Billy Bishop Toronto City Centre Airport which will drive general aviation activity to other Toronto-area airports.

Aviotec's role on the project will be specifically to conduct a Tower Sightlines Study to establish the required tower cab height and to finalize its physical location.
