PASSENGER TERMINAL IMPROVEMENTS - WHITEHORSE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Aviotec International, in association with T-Square Architecture, was selected by the Yukon Government’s Aviation Branch to undertake the planning, design and construction services for a reconfiguration of the passenger terminal apron and new passenger boarding bridge (PBB) at Eric Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport, Yukon, Canada.

The Airport, which serves over 250,000 passengers per year, is the gateway to the Yukon Territory, in Canada’s Arctic Region.  In June 2010, the Government inaugurated a new International Arrivals Wing (IAW) of the passenger terminal, for which Aviotec was a part of the planning and design team.  A new PBB was implemented to serve a range of narrow- and wide-body aircraft at the new IAW. The project will help support growth in seasonal charter activity from Europe, as well as potential charter flights from Asia which the government is actively marketing.

Aviotec’s role in the project included terminal gate and apron planning and design, modelling of aircraft movements and PBB docking, design and specification of the PBB and associated 400 Hz Fixed Ground Power unit, apron markings design, procurement support, construction monitoring and inspection, and equipment testing and commissioning.

The project was completed in February 2014
